Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Transportation Agency isl reviewing a proposed increase in Transjakarta fares from Rp 3,500 to Rp 5,000, citing the need to assess multiple factors before implementation.
“For now, the fare adjustment is still under study while we evaluate current conditions,” said Deputy Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Ujang Harmawan, on Wednesday (29/10/2025), as reported by antaranews.com
He added that there is no confirmed timeline yet, as the government is still gathering public input.
Jakarta’s current Transjakarta fare of Rp 3,500 has remained unchanged since 2015 and covers only 14% of operational costs. Even with a fare hike, the Jakarta administration will continue providing free rides for 15 categories, including civil servants, military–police members, students, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
The administration also plans to improve fleet safety and comfort to attract more public transport users and help reduce air pollution in the capital.
