Joint Security Forces Thwart Marijuana Delivery in Indonesia-Border Area

inp.polri.go.id - Sentani. Joint forces of Indonesian-Papua New Guinea (PNG) border police, Strategic Intelligence Agency, Intelligent Detachment, and Regional Military Command have thwarted 16 ready-to-sell marijuana packages in Skouw, Jayapura City, Papua.

The Head of Indonesian-PNG Border Police Sub-sector, Second Police Inspector Alexander Yarisetouw says that this success qas thanks to officials awareness in the area.

"Our member acquired the information from a witness who saw unknown individual with a suspicious bag around the market," he said quoted from Antaranews on Saturday (7/27/2024).

Following the information, police member I made and his partner at the police border station went to coordinate with Strategic Intelligence Agency, Intelligent Detachment, and Regional Military Command to confirm the information.

"Uppm arriving at the Skow border market, security officials were informed that the suspicious man has gone to Jayapura City with motorcycle taxi," continued Alexander.

Upon hearing the news, military member Rico O. Harahap contacted Captain Alif Setiaji, who was on traffic patrol, about the suspicious man who brought the weed.

Following the report from Rico, Captain Alif Setiaji and joint security personnel went to check Muaratami Post. During their patrol around the post, they found the suspicious man with 16 packages of marijuana.

"The package was wrapped in transparent plastic bag with a total weight of 1,180 gram," explains Alexander.

The man was brought to the security post for further investigation. It was revealed that the man acquired the illicit drugs from PNG and deliver it it through shortcuts.

"The man and the evidence has been moved to Muara Tami Sector Police for further investigation," concludes Alexander.
