Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo expressed his condolences over the passing of weightlifting athlete Lisa Rumbewas, who had achieved world-level achievements during her lifetime.
"Indonesia has lost one of the nation's best daughters. A sportsperson who was endlessly committed and made history for this country," he wrote in a post on his Instagram account @jokowi on Sunday (14/1/2024).
Lisa has made a number of outstanding achievements as a medalist in three different Olympics, World Weightlifting Champtions, Asian Games and SEA Games, antaranews.com. "I extend my condolences on the passing of Lisa Rumbewas. I am praying for strength and fortitude for the family. Hopefully, her merits as a sports hero will always be remembered and inspire Indonesian athletes," he said. Lisa was reported to have passed away at Jayapura Regional Public Hospital, Papua, on Sunday at 3 a.m. The athlete, born on 10 September 1980, was the daughter of a family of athletes and pioneers of weightlifting in Papua.
