Kemayoran Police Precinct investigated a motorcycle theft syndicate operating in Rusun Dakota Apartment in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, where the suspects disguise themselves with jackets resembling online motorcycle taxi drivers. "It will proceed to an investigation phase as we have CCTV evidence and victim statements. Last night, we were there for a crime scene investigation," said Senior Inspector Fauzan, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at Kemayoran Police, on Sunday (14/1/2024). The motorcycle theft syndicate, consisting of two individuals, was captured by CCTV executing a theft in Rusun Dakota, Kemayoran, antaranews.com reported. Police have conducted a thorough investigation, collecting evidence and statements regarding the series of thefts that have occurred more than five times in the area. Arif Rahmat Fadillah (38), a victim, expressed disbelief at losing his motorcycle in an area where his family has lived for over 30 years. He verified the lost of his motorcycle through local CCTV footage, revealing the shocking theft on Saturday at 5.26 am. "After clarifying through CCTV, the motorcycle thieves initially observed the situation. Eventually, one perpetrator, wearing a ride-hailing jacket, assisted another in executing the theft in the parking area," said Arif. The license plate number of the stolen vehicle, captured by the camera, is B 3753 COB. The ride-hailing jacket-wearing thief assisted the other suspect and circled the location while waiting for the actions of the accomplice. This motorcycle theft incident with the same culprits has occurred for the second time within two months in the Rusun Dakota, according to the local neigbhorhood unit. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
