inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The General Election Commission (KPU) prepared several strategies to overcome shortage of Voting Working Group (KPPS) members in the 2024 Regional Head Election.

"Shortage issues are quite common, but we have a special strategy, namely through what we call talent hunting," said the Head of the Human Resources, Organization, Education and Training and Research and Development Division of the Indonesian KPU Parsadaan Harahap, Tuesday (9/17/2024).

Chairman Parsa said that the KPU in the regions would directly meet with networks to build communication with parties who were considered competent to recommend KPPS members at the village and sub-district levels to provide the best people.

In addition, the KPU will also extend the time for three days if the number of KPPS members still does not meet the desired number.

In the 2024 Pilkada, the number of KPPS members needed is approximately 3,450,623 people who will be on duty at 435,809 Polling Stations.

"This is also a dynamic in itself, especially in the 3T (remote, frontier, and outermost) areas. It is usually quite difficult to find KPPS members there," explained Chairman Parsa.

He also said that the KPU deliberately recruited KPPS members before Bawaslu. This was done to prevent a shortage of KPPS members during the upcoming Pilkada.

"Maybe they will also recruit supervisors. Because there are more of us. And of course this is also in quotation marks competing with Pilkada participants or teams that will recruit witnesses or their campaign teams," explained Chairman Parsa.
