Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  State tourism company InJourney expected 100 thousand tourists to attend the 2023 Aquabike Jetski World Championship to be held on Lake Toba, North Sumatra, from 22 to 26 November 2023. "The Aquabike Jetski World Championship, which will be held for five days in four districts, is expected to attract around 80,000 to 100,000 spectators," InJourney's marketing and tourism programme director Maya Watono said on Tuesday (14/11/2023). The calculation was based on the success of the three-day F1 Powerboat Championship on Lake Toba in February 2023, which attracted around 50,000 visitors. To support the international standard water sports event, the government will hold the "Lake Toba People's Party" on November 22-26 in the four districts of Samosir, Karo, Dairi and Toba, which will be free and open to residents and tourists. "We want the Lake Toba People's Celebration to be a lively festival that can attract more tourists. In this way, the sustainable development of tourism and water sports in Lake Toba can be maintained," said Watono. Some 118 racers from 22 countries will take part in the championship, including 77 in the circuit category and 41 in the endurance category. Meanwhile, three Indonesian racers have confirmed their participation in the Aquabike Jetski World Championship. In addition, 300 crew members will accompany the racers. "The ratio of racers to crew is 1:3 because this is the first time the event is being held on Lake Toba, so safety is a priority.
