inp.polri.go.id – Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi) explained that the deployment of four Police Commissioner Generals (Komjen. Pol.) in solving the case of the police friendly fire, was the first time that had happened in history. He believes that the National Police Chief, Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Sc., did not play around in investigating this case. "The National Police Chief even form a special team led by the Deputy Chief of Police. This is the first time something like this has happened, this is the first time in the history of the National Police after I have been overseeing the performance of the National Police for almost 30 years," said Lemkapi Executive Director, Edi Saputra Hasibuan on Friday (15/7/2022) . Even Edi said that the step of the National Police Chief has become a new history in terms of leading the National Police. Edi said that generally criminal cases that are in the public spotlight are led by a Criminal Investigation Officer. "This is history. Usually in solving case, at most, it was led by the Chief of Criminal Investigation Agency. But that was nothing out of the ordinary, because that is the job of Criminal Investigation Agency. But now, we can see that there are four commissioner generals involved in solving this case," said Edi. “It means, this something that the National Police could not ignore, he took this case very seriously,” he continued. Edi stated that the National Police should quickly solve this case because this incident continually degrades public’s trust towards the institution. “What should’ve been the concern of the Police is the public trust. Right now, there is a doubt against them, so they have to restore the public trust in them as quickly as possible. This incident could diminish the image of the National Police in the public eyes,” he said.
