Certain Criminal Investigation Directorate uncovered an LPG gas adulteration in Kutri, Gianyar, Bali. In this case disclosure, four people with the initials of GC, BK, MS, and KS were identified as suspects.

Police found that through their criminal actions, the four suspects can profit up to IDR 650 million per month.

“The four suspects have their own role in this illegal practice,” says the Director of INP Certain Criminal Investigation Directorate, Brigadier General Nunung Syaifudin on Tuesday (3/11/2025).

In this case, police authorities have seized 1,616 subsidized 3 kg LPG gas cylinders, around 900 non-subsidized LPG gas cylinders, six trucks and pickups, and other equipment used as a means of mixing.

"Meanwhile, we examined 12 witnesses including the suspects, land/warehouse owners, porters, including the Singapadu Tengah Village Chief," he said.

Nunung explained that the mixing process began with suspect GC buying the subsidized 3 kg LPG gas cylinders. Then, he moved the 3 kg gas cylinders to BK and MS to be mixed into non-subsidized 12 kg and 50 kg LPG gas cylinders that were still empty.

Following the mixing process, KS transported the adulterated 12 kg and 50 kg LPG gas cylinders with his truck and to be sold to the customers.

The criminal group had been doing the business for 26 working days/month with a turnover of 25 million/day.

The suspects were charged with Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Natural Gas as amended by Article 40 number 9 of Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning the Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation regarding changes to provisions with a maximum prison sentence of six years and a maximum fine of IDR 60,000,000,000.

"We are committed to continuing to enforce the law against criminal acts related to subsidized goods by the government as they not only harm state finances, but also have a broad impact on public welfare," he said.
