Inp.polri.go.id - Ambon.  The Maluku Regional Police have identified 103 highly vulnerable polling stations for the 2024 elections, along with 1,699 categorized as moderately vulnerable and 3,813 as less vulnerable in the province. The Maluku Police Chief, Inspector General Drs. H. Lotharia Latif, revealed this information during a ceremony  of the deployment shift for securing the polling stations held in Ambon on Monday (5/2/2024) "For the security of these polling stations, a considerable number of personnel will be involved,"  he said. In the Maluku province, there are a total of 5,615 polling stations with 1,344,522 registered voters, making the need for security personnel significant. The Maluku Police have deployed 3,342 personnel for polling station security, with 1,457 assigned to less vulnerable stations, 1,697 to moderately vulnerable ones, and 188 to highly vulnerable ones. Maluku Police have also deployed 1,046 personnel, with 487 supporting local police precincts in securing polling stations and 559 supporting precincts in standby duties at command headquarters. "In addition to that, 90 military personnel, from the XVI/Pattimura Regional Military Command, will be on standby to assist the police during the 2024 election voting stages," Chief Latif explained. Regarding the highly vulnerable polling stations in Maluku, he said that the vulnerability is not only related to conflicts but also geographical factors. Maluku has the largest maritime area, making sea conditions, such as rough seas, a concern. "The vulnerability of the election is not only about conflicts but also geography. Currently, with the west monsoon, the weather is less friendly, but we pray that the election process will proceed smoothly," Chief Latif said. (mg/sy/pr/nm)
