inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed that mass organizations do not have the same authority as the law enforcement officers.
Acting Head of the Ministry of Home Affairs Information Center Aang Witarsa Rofik said that this statement refers to the provisions of Article 59 paragraph (2) letter e of Law (UU) Number 17 of 2013 concerning Mass Organizations.
The article states that "Mass organizations are prohibited from carrying out activities that are the duties and authorities of law enforcement in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations."
"Thus, mass organizations cannot carry out actions that are the authority of law enforcement officers, such as investigations, arrests, confiscations, sealing, coercion, and searches," said Aang in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday (5/24/2025).
He explained that these tasks can only be carried out by law enforcement officers such as the police, prosecutors, and judicial institutions.
This affirmation is also an important reference for regional heads so that they do not hesitate to take action against mass organizations that are proven to have violated the regulations.
Regional governments are urged to strengthen supervision and guidance of mass organizations in their respective regions so that they continue to run according to applicable legal corridors.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also appealed to all mass organizations in Indonesia to carry out their roles and functions in accordance with the objectives of their establishment.
This needs to be done without taking actions that could interfere with or replace the role of law enforcement officers.
The government also invites all elements of society to play an active role in maintaining public order, while still respecting the duties and authorities of legitimate law enforcement officers.
