inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Social Affairs and the National Nutrition Agency (BNPB) are expanding the reach of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) to not only serve the Free Nutritional Meals program for schoolchildren but also reach the elderly and people with disabilities.

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf stated that the agreement was discussed with the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, to expand the scope of beneficiaries of the MBG program, especially for vulnerable groups requiring sustainable nutritional interventions.

"The SPPG managed by BGN in the regions will not only provide free nutritious meals for schoolchildren, but will also serve the elderly and people with disabilities," said the Minister Saifullah, Wednesday (2/4/2026).

The determination of MBG beneficiaries for the elderly and people with disabilities will be carried out through an assessment process based on data from the Ministry of Social Affairs and local governments. The data will then be validated by the regional head before being submitted to BGN as the basis for services at the SPPG.

According to the Minister of Social Affairs, the primary target group for this program is elderly people aged 75 and over who live alone, as well as people with disabilities who have limited access to daily nutritional needs.

In addition to expanding food pantry services, the MBG program for the elderly and people with disabilities will also be strengthened by providing companions or caregivers who will be gradually trained to support distribution and assistance in the field.

In the role-sharing scheme, the National Agency for National Assistance (BGN) will be primarily responsible for food provision and budget management, while the Ministry of Social Affairs is tasked with preparing field personnel, the distribution system, and assistance for elderly and disabled beneficiaries.

"The MBG program for the elderly and people with disabilities will be centralized at BGN. The Ministry of Social Affairs will be responsible for preparing personnel and the food distribution system. We will consolidate the budget at BGN, while we will provide the delivery and caretakers," explained the Minister of Social Affairs.
