Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian humanitarian organization MER-C has sent its seventh Emergency Medical Team (EMT-7) to Al Awda Hospital in Northern Gaza to assist with emergency and neurosurgical outpatient care.
The team includes three specialist doctors in internal medicine, emergency care, and neurosurgery, along with one nurse, said Dr. Hadiki Habib, MER-C Presidium Chairman and EMT leader, in a statement on Saturday (8/2/2025).
"Al Awda Hospital's emergency department is often overcrowded, treating over 400 patients daily, while medical personnel are extremely limited," said Dr. Ni Nyoman Indira, one of the volunteers.
She added that local doctors are overwhelmed, facing exhaustion while their own families remain displaced.
To address these challenges, MER-C has been working with Al Awda Hospital’s director since 2 February 2025 to provide much-needed medical support and ensure patients continue to receive care despite the ongoing crisis.
