Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police has enlisted the Mobile Brigade Corps and Samapta Bhayangkara (Sabhara) to reinforce its traffic control efforts as Jakarta’s congestion worsens.
Sabhara is a unit within the INP responsible for public security, crowd control, and preventive policing.
“This new collaboration will strengthen traffic management. While traffic officers usually handle this, we’re adding Brimob and Sabhara to assist with patrols,” said Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto on Tuesday (11/2/2025).
The newly formed Traffic Disruption Response Team will deploy motorcycle patrols for quicker maneuverability in high-traffic areas.
“Using motorcycles allows our teams to navigate congestion more efficiently compared to cars,” he explained, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Chief Karyoto noted that traffic should ease on weekends due to reduced commuter activity, but congestion remains persistent.
“It’s unusual that Jakarta stays gridlocked on Saturdays and Sundays, despite fewer workers commuting from surrounding areas,” he said, adding that the initiative is a response to the growing frustration among Jakarta residents over worsening traffic conditions.
