inp.polri.go.id – Workers in DKI Jakarta must now be prepared with new work rules. It is possible that there would be changes in work schedule for those who work in Jakarta such as coming later in the day and returns home late at night. The Polda Metro Jaya has recently been inviting various parties to discuss about the plan to impose new working hours to relieve traffic congestion in the capital, which is becoming increasingly worse. Deputy Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Nurjaman, said earlier this month businessmen were invited to Metro Jaya Police HQ with relevant stakeholders to discuss about this new plan. "We were asked to talk about how to break down traffic jams in Jakarta, which so far have not been worked out well even though we have implemented odd-even policy. Now we plan to change working hours for people in Jakarta," explained the Deputy Chair of Apindo. The stakeholders who attended the meeting included the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Deputy Chairman of Apindo said, so far the plan is still full of challenges, one of which is adequate transportation support. The government feels the need to increase the fleet at night, at which time the available fleet is not sufficient yet. "If we set the workers to start their day at 12 then they are supposed to leave at 8 o'clock, however, the problem is, is the government ready to prepare transportation for them, we still need to think about it," explained the Deputy Chair of Apindo. In addition, there are concerns from business actors that the productivity of workers will experience a decrease. Moreover, night work hours usually leave only a small amount of labor to work. Not to mention, in terms of the health of the employees.
