Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta Iqbal Alan Abdullah, the Chairman of the Indonesian Congress & Convention Association (INCCA), forecasted a 12-17% increase in Meeting, Incentives, Conference, and Exhibition (MICE) spending in 2024 due to political stability.
"Smooth presidential, legislative, and regional elections have boosted MICE confidence for 2024," he said on Sunday (4/8/2024), as quoted by antaranews.com.
In 2023, national MICE spending reached Rp 45 trillion or around USD 3 billion. For 2024, the figure is projected to rise to Rp 52-54 trillion, or USD 3.2-3.4 billion. The MICE sector saw a 14% increase in 2022, reaching USD 2.23 billion, following a 20% growth in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Iqbal said that government support and international professional organizations, like medical associations, continue to drive MICE growth. Despite a 95% drop in Jakarta's MICE sector, opportunities remain significant.
MICE tourists, who spend 3-4 times more than leisure tourists and stay longer, are crucial for Indonesia's economy, with Jakarta, Bali, Bandung, Makassar, and Batam leading in MICE activities.
