Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono revealed that the outcomes of the "2nd Stakeholder Consultation Meeting" in Bali on 12 and 13 October 2023 have established water justice as a focal point for deliberation at the 10th World Water Forum Summit scheduled in May 2024.
"In large part, our consensus aligns with the Bandung Spirit of 1955, emphasizing cooperation between southern and northern countries, as we advance towards achieving water justice," said Minister Basuki on Sunday (15/10/23).
He emphasized that the 10th World Water Forum would address technical, regional, and political facets, where politics wields significant influence over water management, financing, and regulation.
"The 2nd Stakeholder Consultation Meeting' prior to the 10th World Water Forum engaged over 1,000 participants from 73 countries in formulating technical, regional, and policy issues. These deliberations will be presented at the 10th World Water Forum Summit in May 2024," he explained.
Furthermore, Minister Basuki highlighted that the forthcoming World Water Forum in Bali, in May 2024, would include a dedicated session on water management in island nations.
The World Water Forum stands as the preeminent global platform for water-related discourse, uniting diverse stakeholders including governments, parliamentarians, experts, professional associations, international bodies, and non-governmental organizations.
Comprising three fundamental pillars, namely technical, regional, and political processes, the Forum's overarching goal, particularly in the context of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, is to engage decision-makers at various levels, from presidents and ministers to governors, mayors, and regents, in active participation towards effective water management.
