Minister Meutya Intensify Cyber Patrol Unit to Block Online Gambling Sites

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Digital is intensifying cyber patrols to detect and block access to sites or applications containing online gambling content in an effort to eradicate online gambling practices.

The Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, said that the Ministry of Communication and Digital uses the latest technology such as artificial intelligence to detect online gambling content.

According to her, her ministry has cut off access to 5.1 million gambling content since 2017, including 3.5 million content that was blocked in 2024.

In addition, the ministry during 2024 held training to improve digital literacy for residents in 27 provinces. The training participants reached 165 thousand people.

Meutya has also asked social media platforms operating in Indonesia to campaign for an anti-online gambling movement.

"Although this may be a foreign platform, as long as those accessing the internet are Indonesians, then their business activities cannot be separated from our narrative as a nation," explained the Minister of Communication and Digital.

She said that digital financial service providers must also help efforts to eradicate online gambling practices.

"This is the moment where we require a strong cooperationship. We need to continue and accelerate the effort of blocking these sites, while at the same time if guarding the money transactions, because if not, our work will be for nothing,” remarked Minister Meutya
