Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Manpower has announced plans to hold weekly job fairs to combat rising unemployment, which has reached 7.5 million due to prolonged economic challenges.
“Job fairs are crucial for connecting job seekers directly with companies. We’re working to make this a weekly initiative to tackle unemployment,” said Minister of Manpower Yassierli during the Jaknaker Expo 2024 at Balai Prajurit Balai Sudirman, Jakarta, on Thursday (21/11/2024).
The decision followed five consecutive months of economic slowdown from May to October. Minister Yassierli urged public support, emphasizing the job fairs’ role in providing accessible opportunities for those seeking employment.
Acting Jakarta Governor Teguh Setyabudi noted the importance of workforce training to equip job seekers with skills and certifications aligned with industry needs.
The two-day Jaknaker Expo not only offers job opportunities but also provides information on vocational training programs. Acting Governor Teguh said that improving Jakarta’s workforce is critical to achieving the city’s vision of becoming a top-20 global metropolis by 2045.
