Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Ministry of Communications and Informatics reported on Wednesday (15/11/2023) that it had blocked 3,104 phone numbers between June and 15 November this year. Based on complaints received on the ministry's aduannomor.id website, these phone numbers were reportedly being used for purposes including spam, fraud and voice phishing. "We have blocked numbers from complaints on the aduannomor.id website, with a total of 3,104 (numbers) since June 2023," said Dany Swardany, the Director of Control at the Ministry's Directorate of Post and Informatics Implementation. The aduannomor.id website has been set up by the ministry to record public complaints about unwanted or malicious calls or messages. To report a particular number and have it blocked, people must first create an account and then submit a complaint along with evidence, such as a screenshot or recording of the unwanted conversation. According to Danny, the 3,104 numbers blocked by the ministry were reported for online fraud, online gambling promotions, voice phishing and spam advertising. "There were different reasons for the blocking. Some (phone numbers) were blocked because of online gambling promotions, some because of scams asking for (phone) credit, and some were gift scams. More or less like that, but what is clear is that the scams were via SMS and calls," he informed. Most of the numbers blocked so far have the country code (+62) issued by Indonesian mobile operators. In the period from August to November, the number of complaints against phone numbers received by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics reached 958.  The Ministry is accepting complaints about social media-based fraud on the aduankonten.id website.
