Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Chairperson of Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Rahmat Bagja says that supervising the election is the responsibility of all. According to him, Bawaslu has always been open for criticism and suggestions in carrying out their responsibility that has been mandated by the constitution. “Our election record has increasingly gotten better, although there are still things that need to be evaluated,” said Bagja on Friday (2/23/2024). “Formally, the election supervisor and monitoring is the responsibility of Bawaslu. However, it is also the responsibility of all to monitor the election process,” continued Bagja. Therefore, Bawaslu, said Bagja, has prepared an access for people to report election violations. “Critiques still could be voiced, and do not worry as the constitution protects the rights to associate, gather, and express opinions,” Bawaslu Chair adds. Bagja says that the presence of public opinion in democratic process is vital. On the other hand, Bawaslu is responsible for monitoring the election process thoroughly and completely, while encouraging the participation of the public in monitoring the election process. As of now, Bawaslu has received 962 reports and 465 election violation allegations. Of those numbers, 387 reports and 396 findings have been registered. Bagja says other 69 findings have not been registered yet. Additionally, Bagja detailed that there are 26 administration violations, 14 allegations of election violation, 232 ethic code violations, and 95 law violations. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
