Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Library has adapted 100 ancient Nusantara manuscripts into comic books, aiming to make the cultural heritage more accessible to younger audiences.
Acting Head of the National Library, E Aminudin Aziz, said over the weekend that the goal is to simplify the complex content of ancient manuscripts for modern readers.
"We want the information in these manuscripts to be more familiar to young people," said Aminudin, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The transformation of these texts into comics is part of a larger effort by the National Library to preserve and promote Indonesia’s historical treasures. Aminudin also revealed plans to adapt the manuscripts into films and animations in the future, similar to previous successful projects by the agency.
The initiative followed the National Library’s recent achievement of receiving the 2024 UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize for its consistent efforts in preserving ancient Nusantara manuscripts over the past two decades.
