Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar.   A total of 24 international and domestic flights at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali were cancelled on Monday (7/7/2025) due to the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara .

“As of 3.30 pm local tine, several airlines serving routes to Labuan Bajo, Australia, Singapore, and South Korea have confirmed cancellations or delays,” said Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, the General Manager of Ngurah Rai Airport, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Cancelled flights included 6 flights of Virgin Australia to and from Melbourne, Gold Coast, and Sydney; 16 flights of Jetstar Airways including routes to Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, and Singapore as well as AirAsia Indonesia flights to or from Labuan Bajo. Qantas Airways flights to or from Sydney and Melbourne and Air Busan to and from Busan also experienced delays.

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted on Monday at 11.05 am, spewing an ash column 18,000 meters high. While ash dispersion hasn’t affected Bali’s airspace directly, airport authorities are coordinating with airlines and meteorological agencies for real-time updates.

In addition to Ngurah Rai airport, other airports were also affected by the volcano’s eruption. Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo was closed from 6 pm on Monday until 7am on Tuesday, as paper tests confirmed the presence of volcanic ash.

Fransiskus Xaverius Seda Airport in Maumere was also closed from 9 am on Monday to 6 am on Tuesday.

El Tari Airport in Kupang reported six cancelled routes due to ash impacts, with flights by Wings Air and Nam Air halted to Maumere and Larantuka.
