Inp.polri.go.id - Tokyo. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia clarified on Monday (30/1/2026) that non-subsidized fuel prices are governed by market mechanisms and international energy fluctuations rather than fixed government mandates.
"Under the 2022 Ministerial Regulation, industrial and high-octane fuel prices adjust automatically based on global market parity without state intervention," he said following a business forum in Tokyo, as cited by antaranews.com.
The statement addresses social media speculation regarding a rumored 10% price hike scheduled for 1 April 2026.
Minister Bahlil emphasized that premium fuels like RON 95 and RON 98 are utilized by affluent consumers and businesses, ensuring no financial burden on the state budget. Conversely, any decisions regarding subsidized fuel remain under the direct authority of President Prabowo Subianto, who continues to prioritize public purchasing power and social stability.
State energy company PT Pertamina has also confirmed that no official price adjustments for Pertamax have been announced, dismissing recent unverified projections as speculative.
