Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. North Sumatra Regional Police deployed rubber boats on Wednesday (10/12/2025) to evacuate residents affected by floods and landslides in Batang Toru, South Tapanuli to secure the evacuation of vulnerable residents, including those requiring urgent medical care.
“The boats are prioritized for residents who are sick or need immediate assistance,” said North Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Ferry Walintukan, as reported by antaranews.com.
The evacuation operation, led by Senior Inspector Zaenal Mukhlisin of Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Battalion C, followed strict safety procedures and used full rescue equipment. Officers evacuated at least 20 residents with fragile health conditions or urgent needs. The rescue effort is part of the police’s wider humanitarian response in the district, with personnel ensuring both speed and civilian safety throughout the operation.
Police have also set up the Garoga main post as the center for evacuation, aid distribution, and other humanitarian services. Joint teams remain on alert to restore normal activities in the affected areas.
