inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra Regional Police Chief (Kapolda Sumut), Inspector General Drs. Ridwan Zulkarnain Panca Putra Simanjuntak, M.Sc., conducts inspections on animal farms designated for sacrifices in Gang Keluarga, Deli Serdang Regency, Friday (8/7/22). He wanted to ensure that the animals were not affected by the mouth and nail disease (FMD). When he saw the condition of the livestock, he made sure the animals in that place were healthy. "I came to this farm to make sure the sacrificial animals are not infected with the FMD," said Inspector General Ridwan. He said the FMD task force team in North Sumatra was currently trying to prevent the disease. "We want that in the Eid al-Adha 1443 H, our livestock are in healthy condition. That's why the team is still on the field," said the Two-Star General. On the other hand, the FMD vaccination for the livestock is also considered to be going well. Therefore, he asked the public not to worry about the FMD outbreak during this year's Eid al-Adha. "People don't have to worry. I make sure the sacrificial animals are in good health," said the former North Sulawesi Police Chief. He emphasized that although the number of animals affected by the FMD outbreak continued to rise, the recovery rate was also significant, although he did not give any detail regarding that. "Although there has been an increase in the transmission of FMD outbreaks to livestock, the recovery rate is also quite high. This is because the officers have carried out SOP procedures such as isolation and vaccination," said Kapolda Sumut. Meanwhile, a veterinarian from the Animal Husbandry Service of the North Sumatra Provincial Government, Tesra Ananta, said that so far 1,600 livestock in 7 districts/cities have received the FMD vaccine in the first phase of the vaccination program. He said that there would be 10,000 additional doses of vaccine received by the North Sumatra Provincial Government. "We will allocate this later to other regencies and cities," said Tesra.
