Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief Inspector General Anggoro Sukartono said officers attempted to provide medical assistance to Rheza Sendy Pratama, an Amikom university student who died after a protest outside Yogyakarta Police headquarters on 30 and 31 August 2025.
“The victim was taken from the scene into police headquarters to be saved because he was weak amid tear gas. He was lifted, carried inside, and treated by police medical staff,” he told reporters on Tuesday (2/9/2025), as quoted by antaranws.com
Rheza was later transported to Dr. Sardjito General Hospital using an ambulance borrowed from the hospital due to blocked exits. Chief Anggoro stressed that six people, including Rheza, received first aid before being handed over to hospital staff.
He rejected claims that police pressured the family to sign a waiver or refuse an autopsy, insisting the investigation continues under the police’s internal affairs division. At least 10 witnesses have been questioned so far.
