Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto departed for Beijing on Tuesday night (2/9/2025) to attend China’s military parade at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, marking his first overseas appearance since last week’s domestic unrest.
“President Prabowo Subianto left tonight for Beijing to fulfill President Xi’s invitation. Initially, the invitation was for 31 August 2025, but due to domestic dynamics, his departure was postponed,” State Secretary and Presidential Spokesman Prasetyo Hadi said at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, as quoted by antaranews.com.
President Prabowo had canceled plans to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin earlier this week, sending Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono in his place.
However, with Jakarta and other cities now returning to normal, he agreed to attend the 3 September 2025 parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in World War II.
State Secretary Prasetyo said that President Prabowo will return to Jakarta immediately after the event, citing both security considerations and the importance of maintaining strong ties with Beijing.
