Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has requested the closure of 27,395 bank accounts linked to online gambling activities, marking a sharp increase from 25,912 accounts reported a month earlier.
“Online gambling has caused widespread harm to the economy and the financial sector. OJK has asked banks to block around 27,395 accounts identified through our data and that of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs,” said OJK Chief Executive for Banking Supervision Dian Ediana Rae on Friday (10/10/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The OJK instructed banks to close accounts matching national identification numbers (NIK) associated with suspected gambling transactions and to strengthen their monitoring through Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD).
In a related update, OJK reported that national bank credit grew 7.56% year-on-year in August 2025 to Rp 8.07 quadrillion, with strong gains in investment and consumer loans. Liquidity and asset quality remained stable, reflecting the sector’s resilience amid global uncertainty.
