inp.polri.go.id - Papua. To ensure the distribution of subsidized fertilizer is on target and in accordance with government regulations, the South Papua Regional Police conducted on-site monitoring and inspections of storage warehouses and farmer groups in Merauke Regency on Wednesday (10/22/2025).

The activity was led by Police Assistant Superintendent Yunus Lewi, along with the Licensing Supervision team. Yunus Lewi, stated in his statement that this monitoring is part of police's commitment to supporting the government in maintaining food security and preventing misuse in the distribution of subsidized fertilizer.

"This monitoring is carried out to ensure that subsidized fertilizer is truly distributed to the rightful farmer groups and is not misused by third parties. We are committed to supporting the government in maintaining the stability of the agricultural sector," he said.

Meanwhile, the distribution mechanism for subsidized fertilizer in the region remains in accordance with regulations. Farmers can only purchase fertilizer by showing their ID card or farmer group membership card, and it is not distributed to large companies such as oil palm plantations.

The inspection also revealed that the availability of subsidized fertilizer has remained secure over the past two years, although farmers' purchasing power has decreased due to heavy rainfall, which has caused agricultural land to become waterlogged and hampered the fertilization process.

Furthermore, no indications of administrative violations or irregularities were found in the distribution process of subsidized fertilizer from the distributor level to the farmer groups.

Yunus emphasized that the inspection results indicate that fertilizer distribution in Merauke Regency is still proceeding according to procedure. However, his office continues to encourage improvements to storage facilities to maintain fertilizer quality.
