inp.polri.go.id – A Muslim preacher, Daeng Marannu, who usually goes to Kenyam Mosque, Nogolait Village, has to suffer a terrible fate on Saturday morning, July 16th. He, and the other nine people, were the victims of the Armed Criminal Group shootings led by Egianus Kogoya. Before his death, Daeng Marannu has given his last lectures on the day of Eid al-Adha at Kenyam Mosque. The brutal act of the Armed Criminal Group in Papua should be fully condemned, nationally and internationally, due to their random attacks that often cause the death of innocent lives. This innocent lives also includes the Religious Leaders in the region. Not just Daeng Marannu, a priest from the local church, Eliaser Banner, also became the victim of the shootings. This was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations of Papua Police, Police Commissioner Ahmda Mustofa Kamal. “Other than Daeng Marannu, priest Eliaser Banner also become the victim of the shootings. He was shoot when he was trying to stop the violence of the Armed Criminal Group,” said Kamal. Commissioner Ahmad stated that the situation in Nogolait Village is now under control. Several security forces have been deployed to the location to monitor the situation and prevent any disturbances that may happen again in the region. Currently the case is still under investigation and the security forces is still working hard in bringing the justice to the perpetrators. Commissioner Ahmad adds that the body of Daeng Marannu has been flown to South Sulawesi on Sunday morning to be buried in his homeland.
