Inp.polri.go.id - Padang.  The  Padang City Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit has arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly sexually abusing a minor while falsely claiming to be a marine officer.

“The suspect was arrested on Saturday, without resistance. We confiscated various items as evidence,” said Padang City Police Chief of Criminal Investigation, Senior Inspector M. Yasin, on Sunday (13/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The suspect, identified NR, a resident of Koto Tangah, Padang, is currently detained and under legal investigation. The case is being handled by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of Padang City Police.

The suspect is charged under Article 332 of the Criminal Code for taking a minor without parental consent and may also face charges under the Child Protection Law, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.

The case began when the victim’s parents reported her missing. She had left for a local tourist spot and failed to return. Police found her a week later in a rented room with suspect NR, who had claimed to be a Second Sergeant in the Indonesian Navy to deceive the girl.

He admitted to multiple acts of intercourse and had no real connection to the military. Police also seized military-style clothing and camouflage gear used to support his false identity.
