Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Cyber Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency  arrested a man with the initials AMA (29) for making a deepfake video of President Prabowo Subianto and other number of officials. He was arrested in Bumi Nabung Ilir Village, Bumi Nabung District, Central Lampung Regency.

The Cyber Criminal Investigation Directorate of Indonesian National Police (INP), Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji reveals that AMA used the AI technology to deepfake President Prabowo, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and State's Treasurer Sri Mulyani.

"The content told the public that the government is providing aids to the people in need," says Himawan in press conference on Thursday (1/23/2025).

According to the Director, in the video, a Whatsapp number is written that can be contacted in the hope that a potential victim will contact them. If someone fell to the trap, the suspect will direct them to register.

"Then, the victim was asked to transfer a certain amount of money on the grounds of administrative fees and then the suspect would continue to promise the funds would be disbursed until the victim transferred it again, even though in fact the aid funds never existed," explained the Director Himawan.

According to Himawan, the suspect has been deepfaking the government officials since 2020 to January 16th, 2025. In total, there are 11 victims which most of them transferred the money from IDR 250,000 to IDR 1,000,000.

"As of now, we are still pursuing other fugitive with the initials of FA as we found that this is an organized crime. So we won't stop here," says Himawan.

The investigatlrs  then charged suspect AMA with Article 51 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 35 of Law No. 1 of 2024 concerning the second amendment to Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning ITE and Article 378 of the Criminal Code.
