inp.polri.go.id - Kediri. The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kediri City Sub-regional Police has successfully uncovered a case of aggravated theft at a supermarket.

The actions of the gang of theft specialists in the Kediri City shopping center were caught on CCTV and went viral on social media.

From the disclosure of the case, the Kediri City Sub-regional Police managed to secure four women who are strongly suspected of being the perpetrators.

They are NI (50), D (60) from Surabaya City, M (49) from Tuban, and SS (32) from Gorontalo.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kediri City Sub-regional Police, Police Senior Inspector Cipto Dwi Leksana, Friday (6/13/2025).

The disclosure began with a report from the people of Kediri City against the gang of theft after their action went viral at the Kediri City Supermarket

"Our members immediately responded quickly to the report by conducting an investigation," he explained during a press conference at the Kediri City Sub-regional Police Headquarters.

Cipto explained that the results of the investigation led to four suspected theft specialist perpetrators.

Police then managed to arrest the four perpetrators while they were in Surabaya City on Tuesday (6/10/2025).

Following the arrest, it was revealed that the women each have their own role in their theft operation.

In their actions, NI and D secures the sides of the targeted victim while M and SS distract the victim. After a misdirection goes successful, NI immediately snatched the wallet inside the bag of the victim.

Police also revealed that the group does not only operate in Kediri City, but also in Surabaya City, Madiun City, Surakarta City, and Yogyakarta City.

For their actions, the group was charged with aggravated theft under Article 363 of the Criminal Code or Article 362 with a prison sentence of 7 years in prison.
