Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police arrested a lawyer after a traffic accident exposed his illegal possession of firearms and drugs.

Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro said on Sunday (27/4/2025) that the incident unfolded Friday in the Senen area when a public transport driver, noticing a weapon, alerted nearby police. 

Police officers found a Makarov 7.65mm pistol concealed on the lawyer, identified as S (31), without legal permits, 

Further search of his car uncovered a long-barreled air rifle, an improvised airsoft gun, methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription drugs, and multiple mobile phones. A urine test confirmed that he lawyer had used meth, marijuana, and benzodiazepines.

He faces charges under Indonesia’s Emergency Law on firearms and Narcotics Law, carrying penalties of up to life imprisonment or 20 years for firearms violations and 4–12 years for drug offenses.

“This is a serious breach that endangers public safety,” Chief Susatyo said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Police are investigating whether S is connected to illegal firearm networks or drug trafficking circles. The case is moving toward prosecution.
