Police Confirmed One New Suspect on the Robbery of 111 Tons of Steel of High-Speed Rail Project

Chief of East Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Erwin Kurniawan, confirmed another suspect of the robbery case of 111 tons of steel for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train project. "There is one more (suspect)", Chief of East Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Erwin Kurniawan, said on Monday (15/11/21). The Chief of East Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police has not detailed the perpetrator's identity. Until now, the investigators of East Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police are still developing the case into other suspects. Regarding the perpetrator's initials, Police Grand Commissioner Erwin Kurniawan also did not mention that. He only said that the investigation is still ongoing. Police are also waiting for the loss audit suffered by PT Wijaya Karya (Wika) due to the robbery. If the internal audit of PT Wika is finished, Police will invite the management board of PT Wika for being interrogated as witnesses. The interrogation is planned for this week. "The interrogation would be on this week. As information, PT Wika is the victim here", Chief of East Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police continued. Chief of East Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police also explained how the group stole the steel of Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail Project in Cipinang Melayu, Makassar, East Jakarta. They unloaded the steel on top of the precast concrete. Afterwards, they put stolen steel into pickup through breached zinc fences. After their actions were caught by security personnel and the community, the perpetrators then ran away. The collected steel was left abandoned. Police said that the robber group had conducted their actions from July to October 2021. The lost steel is estimated at 111.081 kg.
