inp.polri.go.id - West Kalimantan. The West Kalimantan Regional Police have successfully destroyed narcotics evidence from eight major cases uncovered in the past few months. The destruction was carried out using a high-pressure incinerator at the Bhayangkara Anton Soedjarwo Hospital.

The Vice Chief of the West Kalimantan Regional Police, Brigadier General Roma Hutajulu, stated that all of the cases uncovered employed a sophisticated and modern modus operandi.

The perpetrators utilized delivery services, location systems (interrupted network and distribution), and online transactions to evade police surveillance.

"The suspects' overall modus operandi was to transact narcotics, including methamphetamine and ecstasy, using delivery services, location systems, and online transactions. The intention was to conceal the transactions from the public or police officers," he explained, as reported on the jurnalborneo website, Wednesday (7/16/2025).

He emphasized that the suspects were charged under Article 112 paragraph (2) and/or Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. They face the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum sentence of 20 years, along with a maximum fine of IDR 10 billion, plus a third of that amount due to the significant weight of the evidence.

The total evidence seized from all cases amounted to 27,167.32 grams of methamphetamine and 2,367 ecstasy pills. Of these, 3,749.25 grams were destroyed, leaving the remaining 23,418.07 grams and 2,367 ecstasy pills set aside for testing and trial. The destroyed evidence consisted of 23,369.74 grams of methamphetamine and 2,359 ecstasy pills.

Referring to the estimate that 1 gram of crystal methamphetamine can be used by 8 people and 1 ecstasy pill for 2 people, the West Kalimantan Regional Police said the number of lives saved from potential abuse reached 222,072.
