inp.polri.go.id - Doyo Baru. The Yogyakarta Regional Police destroyed 36.14 grams of methamphetamine evidence from a drugs case uncovered by a suspect identified as AS, also known as K, at the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters on Thursday (7/10/2025).

Led by the Head of Sub-Directorate II of the Yogyakarta Regional Police Narcotics Directorate, Superintendent Alaal Prasetyo, the destroyed evidence was confiscated from suspect AS, a 47-year-old man residing in the Gedongtengen area of Yogyakarta City. The destruction also demonstrated the police's commitment to eradicating narcotics trafficking in Yogyakarta.

Based on the investigation, the suspect was found to be an intermediary in the distribution of methamphetamine after being contacted by a fugitive inmate identified as A. AS received an order via WhatsApp message to pick up the methamphetamine in the Klaten area, Central Java, and distribute it using a patch system.

The suspect's modus operandi was organized, starting with obtaining the methamphetamine, repackaging it in various sizes, and placing the packages at specific locations as directed by the wanted man. In return, the suspect was promised IDR 500,000 in cash for every 5 grams of methamphetamine successfully distributed.

Police secured evidence in the form of six plastic seal packages containing crystal powder suspected to be methamphetamine, weighing a total of 36.14 grams, along with supporting equipment such as a digital scale, a glass pipette, and empty plastic seals. The suspect was arrested at his home in the Bimomartani area of Sleman, during a raid witnessed by local neighborhood officials.

For his actions, the suspect was charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) or Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 127 paragraph (1) letter a of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which carries a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment.

The destruction of evidence was carried out based on a decree from the Yogyakarta District Attorney's Office and witnessed by the relevant parties, as a form of transparency in the legal process and the presentation of evidence during the trial.

The Yogyakarta Regional Police affirmed that they will continue to take preventive measures and take action against drug trafficking networks to ensure the safety and security of Yogyakarta's youth.
