inp.polri.go.id - East Kutai. The East Kutai Sub-regional Police reaffirmed their commitment to monitoring the distribution of fuel (BBM), especially subsidized fuel, to ensure it remains on target and prevents misuse.

This was conveyed in response to potential irregularities in the field, such as hoarding and repeated purchases that violate regulations.

East Kutai Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Fauzan Arianto, appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying, as this could actually trigger shortages at the distribution level.

"We urge the public not to overbuy. There's no need to panic, as we will continue to monitor fuel distribution to ensure it runs smoothly," he said on Monday (May 4, 2026).

He also emphasized that all gas station operators must operate professionally and comply with applicable regulations, including the implementation of a barcode system for the distribution of subsidized fuel.

"We ask gas stations to operate professionally and comply with all regulations, especially regarding the use of the barcode system to ensure subsidized fuel reaches its intended target," explained Fauzan.

He further reminded that any form of misuse of subsidized fuel or hoarding is a violation of the law and is subject to strict sanctions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. As a preventative measure, the East Kutai Sub-regional Police continue to monitor and patrol several gas stations and provide outreach to the public and businesses to prevent violations.

"If any hoarding or misuse of subsidized fuel is discovered, we will not hesitate to take firm legal action," he said.

With strong cooperation between the police, gas station operators, and the public, it is hoped that fuel distribution in the East Kutai region will proceed in an orderly, smooth, and targeted manner.

The police also encourage the public to play an active role by reporting any indications of irregularities in fuel distribution, so that they can be promptly followed up to maintain stability and justice for all.
