inp.polri.go.id - Riau. The Riau Regional Police Drugs Investigation Directorate, along with AVSEC officers from Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru, foiled an attempt to smuggle 13 kilograms of methamphetamine. This discovery led to the arrest of suspects A (40) and AP (28).

The Director of Drugs Investigation at the Riau Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Putu Yudha Prawira, stated that the suspects were arrested along with their wives, DS and EF. They were arrested at the airport while carrying suitcases containing methamphetamine to the departure lounge.

He revealed that in the five suitcases they were carrying, officers found a total of 6 kilograms of methamphetamine wrapped in four to six packages per suitcase. This discovery stemmed from the suspicions of AVSEC officers, who then reported it to Sub-Directorate 2 of the Riau Regional Police's Drugs Investigation Directorate.

"Our police team immediately went to the location and arrested the suspects along with evidence," he explained, as quoted by RRI, Monday (8/18/2025).

After interrogation, it was discovered that there was still more methamphetamine stored in their rented house. A search was then conducted at the rented house on Keliling street, Kulim District, Pekanbaru City.

"At the location, the team found a suitcase containing 29 packages of methamphetamine weighing approximately 7 kilograms and a digital scale," said Senior Commissioner Putus.

According to him, based on the suspect's confession, they received the methamphetamine from an agent identified as M at a hotel in Pekanbaru. The total amount of methamphetamine received was approximately 15 kilograms in 15 large packages.

In addition to the methamphetamine, he explained, other confiscated evidence included six suitcases, a quantity of cash, and a digital scale. The suspects received orders from a dealer with the initials H and his courier with the initials M.

He explained that both are currently under further investigation by the police. Suspect A is known to have delivered methamphetamine five times for IDR 60 million per kilogram, while AP has delivered it three times for IDR 50 million per kilogram.

"However, they have only received IDR 10 million each from these deliveries," he said.
