inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura City. Three houses were burned down in the settlement behind the North Jayapura District Fisheries Office, Sunday (7/6/2025).
The three houses that were burned down belonged to Ode Mini (45), Junaidi (47) and Juber Sitorus, where according to witnesses around the location of the incident, the fire started from Juber Sitorus' house.
The Jayapura City Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Frederickus W.A. Maclarimboen, when contacted via his cell phone, confirmed the fire incident.
"So, according to witnesses at the location of the incident, the fire started from Juber Sitorus' house. People then call the neighbors to work together to put out the fire with simple tools," said Senior Commissioner Frederickus W.A. Maclarimboen.
The fire started at around 5 am and was successfully extinguished two hours later with the assistance of three fire engines and one water supply car belonging to the Jayapura City Government and one water cannon car belonging to the Jayapura City Sub-regional Police.
"Police lines have been installed at the scene by the identification unit of the criminal investigation unit to secure the status quo for further crime scene investigation to reveal the cause of the fire," explained Frederickus.
He added that until now the cause of the fire has not been confirmed, the police are still in the field to conduct an investigation.
