Inp.polri.go.id - Tarakan. Tarakan Sub-regional Police officers rescued a middle-aged woman after she was attacked by a crocodile while collecting grass near the Persemaian Reservoir, Tarakan, North Kalimantan, on Monday afternoon (19/1/2026).
“The victim was gathering grass for cattle feed at the edge of the reservoir when a crocodile suddenly attacked her,” Tarakan Police spokesperson First Inspector Rusli said in a written statement quoted by antaranews.com
The incident occurred at around 3.15 pm local time, when the woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was dragged by a crocodile estimated to be three meters long. Hearing her screams, officers from the Tarakan Police Human Resources Unit, who were conducting physical training nearby, rushed to the scene.
The officers managed to force the crocodile to release its grip and evacuate the victim to Tarakan City General Hospital using a police vehicle.
The woman sustained serious injuries, including a fractured right calf, and remains under intensive medical treatment. Chief Rusli urged residents to stay alert when conducting activities near waters known to be crocodile habitats.
