inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Police have revealed the motive behind Yance, also known as AA, who set his own wife, CAU (24), on fire. Police say the perpetrator committed this heinous act because he accused his wife of having an affair with another man.

"He committed this act because he was jealous of the victim," explained the Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the East Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police, Police Senior Inspector Sri Yatmini, to reporters on Thursday (10/23/2025).

Sri explained that Yance's jealousy was triggered by news from his younger sibling accusing his wife of having an affair. The younger sibling even claimed to have seen the victim walking with a man she believed was her lover.

"The suspect accused the victim of having an affair. His younger sibling said she saw the victim walking with the man she suspected was having an affair," said AKP Sri.

According to the perpetrator's statement, the victim denied it, which angered him. The suspect then doused the victim's face, chest, and entire body with gasoline, then lit a match.
