Inp.polri.go.id – North Sumatra. Police reveals the chronology behind the accident between a truck and a train at Medan, North Sumatra which occurred at 20.24 pm, Tuesday night. Witnesses reportedly saw the truck forced its way through a crossing gate that was almost closed. The Head Section of Sergai Sub-regional Police Public Relation, First Police Inspector Edward Sidauruk, further explains that the truck carrying fertilizer was experiencing engine break and stopped in the middle of the train tracks. The drive fortunately able to escape from the truck before the collision happened. “Then, Putri Deli train came and hit the rear of the truck. The collision threw the truck to hit local shops around the location,” says Edward on Wednesday (3/20/2024). Following the incident, the truck was moved to Traffic Law Enforcement Post of Sei Sijenggi for further investigation, while the train was moved to Medan Station. “Due to the incident, the train driver and his assistant were injured," add Edward. He then continued that truck driver was escaping and was still on the run. As of now, officials are still trying to evacuate the trucks. Meanwhile, the train has been completely evacuated at the same night and the train tracks can be immediately used. (ad/ay/pr/nm)
