inp.polri.go.id - East Java. The Disaster Victim Identification of East Java Regional Police sends the DNA samples of the victims of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School collapsed building to the Indonesian National Police (INP) Medical Center in Jakarta.
This decision was taken so that the body identification process would not be hampered by time and technical complications.
The Head of the East Java Regional Police Medical Center, Senior Superintendent M Khusnan Marzuki, revealed that the DNA sample sent was a body part of a right leg found at the rubbles of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School prayer room.
The sample was immediately taken from the Bhayangkara Hospital Post Mortem to the INP Medical Center laboratory.
"We sent the DNA sample of the body part, which is the right leg, to Jakarta today," he said on Sunday (5/10/2025).
The limb was found on Saturday (10/4/2025) at around 17.35 on the right side of the entrance to the prayer room.
Marzuki says that the sending of the sample to Jakarta was also to check whether the body part was part of the body that had been identified.
He emphasized that the discovery of the body part cannot be immediately categorized as a complete body. Therefore, the identification process still depends on the results of the DNA laboratory.
Considering the condition of the body, which has been at the location for more than three days, the identification process must be carried out very carefully.
The police hope that without waiting for DNA testing, they can identify the body in a relatively intact condition.
However, in the case of body parts, he emphasized that only through a DNA laboratory can definitive identity be confirmed.
