inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police successfully thwarted the attempt to send 16 prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) without procedures/illegally to the Middle East.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police, Police Assistant Superintendent Yandri Mono, confirmed his team secured 16 CPMI and arrested two suspects.
"Two people were named suspects with the initials E and H," said Yandri on Wednesday (1/10/2025).
Based on the results of the investigation, the motive of the suspects in the human trafficking practice was to gain profit from each shipment sent abroad, with a range of IDR 1 million to IDR 2 million per person.
In addition, the investigative team found the alleged involvement of a foreign national (WNA) who acted as a financier in this illegal CPMI sending practice.
"We are still investigating the case. We are currently developing the suspects' statements, including the role of the foreign nationals involved," continued Yandri.
He also revealed that these illegal Indonesian migrant workers were known to have been sent abroad using tourist visas. Similar practices are often used to disguise the departure of undocumented migrant workers.
