inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police successfully uncovered the human trafficking case on December 6th, 2024 with a suspect, with the initials AS, arrested on suspicion of scamming the victims by recruiting and employing them.

Head of NTT Regional Police Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Ariasandy confirms the report and says the case was revealed when one of the victim’s family reported the case to the police.

“Following the report, our team immediately made a move to Naioni Village, Alak District, Kupang City. At the location, the police secured two victims, namely YB (the victim's child) and FMN, along with the suspect AS," said Ariasandy. Sunday (12/8/2024)

From the results of the examination, it was revealed that Victim YB was recruited since October 2024 to work on a laying hen farm with the promise of a salary of IDR 300,000 per month. However, after two months of work, the victim did not receive any salary at all.

The victim, FMN, was contacted by the suspect with a promise of work at a shop in Kupang City. The victim came from Timor Tengah Selatan Regency using a travel agency on December 1st, 2024, then was picked up by the suspect. However, the victim did not get the job as promised and was instead taken to a chicken farm and subjected to immoral acts by the suspect.

Ariasandy, explained that investigators had obtained sufficient evidence to name AS as a suspect.

The evidence includes statements from witnesses and victims, including YB, FMN, as well as witnesses OM and FN, statements from suspects, clues in the form of cellphones belonging to the victim and suspect, and a letter of the results of the medical report of victim FMN.

The suspect AS is now officially detained and charged with Article 2 Paragraph (1), Article 6, and Article 10 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Human Trafficking. Investigators have also completed the filing process to continue this case to the next stage.
