The bodies of Second Brigadier Arnaldobert Yawan and Second Brigadier Sandi Defrit Sayuri, tragically shot dead by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Baya Biru District, Paniai Regency, Central Papua, were scheduled for evacuation from the scene on Thursday (21/3/2024). Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, confirmed, "The plan for today is indeed to evacuate the two police victims of the KKB shooting to Mimika Regency using a helicopter." He revealed that following Wednesday morning's shooting against the two police officers, one civilian, identified as Dani (45), was found dead in the vicinity. "The victim perished due to injuries sustained from an arrow shot in the back," the Chief Spokesperson said, adding that his body was laid to rest at a resident's house in the Baya Biru District. Two members of Ndeotadi Police Post 99 in Baya Biru District were ambushed by the KKB while they were conducting security measures for Helipad 99. After killing the officers, the KKB robbed their two AK-47 firearms. Authorities strongly suspect the KKB, led by Aibon Kogoya, as the perpetrators of the attack. (inp/hn/nm)
