inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto explained the government's mission in realizing food independence and increasing food crop production before the Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji Sitiveni Rabuka during a bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday.

In a bilateral meeting with delegations from both countries, President Prabowo explained that rice productivity had increased significantly in the last six months since his leadership.

"In the first six months of my administration, (rice) production has increased to a very high level and we are very happy if Fiji wants to participate and perhaps wants to send its youth to learn from our experience," Prabowo said.

In addition to rice, Prabowo also explained that national agriculture is developing new, more productive plant seeds, for example soybeans.

According to Prabowo, soybean productivity was previously very low, which was only 1-2 tons per hectare. After finding a new type of seed, soybean production could reach more than 2.5 tons per hectare, which is considered competitive with global market prices.

"Also wheat, we are trying to continue to develop wheat, a type of wheat that can be planted in Indonesia, which was very difficult in previous years," Prabowo added.

With the same weather, Prabowo offers cooperation opportunities so that the young generations of Fiji can learn the agriculture of Indonesia.
