The decree, issued by President Widodo on 31 July 2024, takes effect immediately, according to antaranews.com on Thursday (1/8/2024). However, the decree notes that Village Day will not be a public holiday.
According to the decree, villages play a crucial role in government administration, directly serving the community and supporting national unity through their diverse customs and cultures.

The enactment of Law No. 6 of 2014 on Villages on 15 January, 2014 defines the legal status of villages in Indonesia’s governance structure.
