Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Responding to allegations by former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Agus Rahardjo that President Joko "Jokowi"  Widodo had interfered in the legal process of a high profile corruption case, Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana said the president had no current intention to take legal action. Speaking to reporters at the State Secretariat on Wednesday (6/12/2023), Ari confirmed that the president had not yet considered such a move. President Jokowi  has clarified these allegations in a lengthy interview at the Presidential Palace on Monday, when he explicitly said that he had instructed Setya Novanto to follow due legal process. This statement is documented on the digital platform of the Cabinet Secretariat published on 17 November 2017, antaranews.com reported. In addition, President Jokowi instructed the State Secretariat to review all records of his meetings with Agus Rahardjo related to the aforementioned agenda and found no evidence to support the allegations. Ari said that President Jokowi's clarification was an open statement aimed at educating the public to avoid one-sided interpretations. In a recent interview, Agus claimed that President Jokowi had asked him to drop the electronic ID corruption case involving former House of Representative speaker Setya Novanto. However, on 24 April 2018, Setya was sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of Rp 500 million for corruption in the electronic ID project for the fiscal years 2011-2013. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
